The Best Time of Year to Clean Your Driveway in London
6 July 2026 · 5 min read
When to book driveway cleaning in London for the best results and lowest prices — plus which months to avoid.
Timing matters more than most homeowners realise. Clean at the wrong time and you'll be looking at algae again by Christmas. Here's how the London calendar breaks down.
Spring (March–May): best all-round
Warm enough for sealants to cure, dry enough for re-sanding to stay in the joints, and it clears the winter build-up of moss and algae before it gets baked on. This is peak booking season — book 2–3 weeks ahead.
Summer (June–August): great for sealing
Dry weeks are ideal for sealing block paving and resin. The trade-off: any moss that survives will bounce back fast in autumn without a residual treatment.
Autumn (September–November): the underrated slot
Cleaning in October means you go into winter with clean joints and less organic material to feed algae. Prices often drop 10–20% as demand quietens.
Winter (December–February): avoid unless urgent
Sealants won't cure below ~5°C, re-sanding gets washed straight back out, and freeze-thaw cycles can crack recently pressure-washed concrete. Emergency oil-stain removal is fine year-round.
The London wet-weather rule
Give it 48 hours of dry weather after the clean before sealing or re-sanding. In London's climate that means checking the forecast carefully, especially in October and March.
